Cleansing ceremony at Rozelle Neighbourhood Centre
- 4 June 08
The centre is pleased to announce the Department of Disability and Home Care has approved funding for painting of the internal hall space. The renewal of the space will bring a positive visual aspect to the centre and we look forward to increased usage by community groups. We would like to share with the community that at Rozelle Neighbourhood Centre we believe it is important to put the past behind us and look forward to beginning new and positive changes. |
To launch the renewal process for the centre on Wednesday 4 June the centre invited Uncle Max, an Aboriginal Elder, to performed a cleansing smoking ceremony to prepare the way forward.
In a special fire cradle eucalyptus leaves were lit and the smell of aromatic of burining leaves wafted through every room in the centre. Staff became involved in the ritual as Uncle Max moved around the centre cleansing the past and opening up the centre. To a brighter future.
We would like to thank Uncle Max and his assistant Kathy for taking an interest in the centre’s past to create a brighter future.
If you would like a smoking ceremony to clear your space contact Uncle Max on 0425 288 495.
