WERRP Volunteer Rewards
- 11 October 08
On Thursday 9 October management and staff at Rozelle Neighbourhood Centre thanked its volunteers with a dinner at Dicks Hotel, Balmain. The dinner acknowledged their ongoing contribution to the Weekend Respite & Recreation Program (WERRP). Without its volunteers the program would not be able to run as effectively and the centre appreciated their committment. The night was also an opportunity for volunteers to meet and share stories about what drew them to volunteering and what they enjoy most about the program. The centre believes WERRP has dual aims for clients: to provide respite to families who have a member with an intellectual disability, and leisure and community access to people with intellectual disabilities. Volunteering on the program also provides opportunities for members of the community to become involved and participate in unique, fun and social activities with clients. WERRP operates 48 weeks per year and delivers service usually between the hours of 9.30am and 4pm on Saturdays. Rozelle Neighbourhood Centre offers regular support and training workshops to all volunteers on the WERRP program, providing the opportunity to network with other volunteers and meet like minded people. |
