Rozelle Neighbourhood Centre Bush Fire Appeal
- 6 March 09

As a Neighbourhood Centre working with the local community we have all been deeply touched by the enormity of the tragedy of the Victorian bush fires. Rozelle Neighbourhood Centre had already donated money via the Bendigo Community Bank but wanted to do something practical as well.

Staff decided to join the Bushfire Relief Network. As a central location for the peninsula Rozelle Neighbourhood Centre opened its doors to serve as a drop off point for toiletries such as soap, shampoo, razors, toothpaste, baby needs, moisturiser etc.

As community members droped off more and more items it was wonderful to see our local community coming together to give assistance to another local community in need.

A total of 6 storage boxes full of brand new toiletries were delivered to Bushfire Relief points in Victoria.  We would like to thank the local community for its generosity with the appeal collection.

Rozelle Neighbourhood Centre would also like to thank Kennards Rozelle for donating storage boxes phone them on 9555 8555.

In particular we would like to acknowledge the support of 'Couriers Please' staff members Julie Handley and Duonya Akil who came to the rescue and couriered the toiletries to Victoria for free to support this community project.

Couriers Please can be contacted on 1300 36 1000.

On behalf of staff at RNC, thank you again to all who supported this appeal.
