Jazzy Trip Down Memory Lane
- 19 March 09

Yesterday the sounds of The Unity Hall Jazz Band filled the centre with over 50 seniors enjoying an afternoon jazz party at Rozelle Neighbourhood Centre during its annual Seniors Day Celebration.

It was a jazzy trip down memory lane as seniors swayed in their seats, stomped and clapped along to the horns, piano and drums of the energetic musical quartet. Active seniors also took the opportunity to jump on the dance floor and showed off their fancy footwork.

Members of the Unity Hall Jazz Band have been playing for 37 years on Friday nights and Sunday afternoons and it was a thrill to have them help us celebrate seniors week.

Management and staff would like to thank Gary Walford - Piano, Geoff Bull -Trumpet/Vocals, Dan Barnett-Trombone/Vocals, Anthony Howe - Drum/Vocals for making this event a highlight for local seniors at Rozelle Neighbourhood Centre.

The jazz party was a partnership with Leichhardt Council who sponsored the wonderful entertainment and Tom Foster Community Centre who provided the delicious catering as a promotion for their Meals on Wheels service and staff from Rozelle Neigbourhood Centre who worked together to make the event run smoothly.

It was a unique opportunity for the community to come together and enjoy live music and get jazzed up! Find out more check out The Unity Hall Jazz Band.
