Rapt in Rozelle Wraps- community calls for more blankets this winter
As Sydney faced one of the coldest winters in 10 years Rozelle Neighbourhood Centre, together with the Exodus Foundation, Salvation Army’s Oasis Foundation and Father Chris Riley is appealed to local residents to donate any winter blankets and jumpers to those in need. Local residents delivered hundreds of blankets and jumpers that they no longer need to the centre which were taken direct to people struggling to bear cold nights.
The appeal was based on a Rozelle Neighbourhood Centre student’s idea. “It really opened my eyes when I walked around the Domain car park one evening with my son and saw this heartbreaking situation first hand. At that moment I felt that if you are lucky enough to have a roof over your head and food in your belly at night, then you are luckier than most.”, said Amanda O’Keefe.
The centre over a few weeks collected hundreds of blankets and jumper which were distributed to people in need. Rozelle Neighbourhood Centre would like to thank the community for their generosity.
