This school holidays the centre saw the return of their favourite puppeteers Sue Wallace and Steven Coupe from Sydney Puppet Theatre performing “A Package for Granny”.
Granny is waiting on the arrival of a very special package. While she waits with great expectation, she tells us stories and introduces us to some of the wonderful creatures who inhabit her world. Everything around Granny comes to life, even her tea pot and kettle. Her special friends, Turtle and Green and Yellow, find her package which contains the best surprise, a kiss for Granny.
We had a very successful day with a full house for the puppet show with over 60 children and their parents and carers experience the imaginative and interactive fun of Sydney Puppet Theatre. One lucky participant won a lucky door prize puppet pack from Zig Zag Zoug.
The show was followed by a Puppet Pal workshop where 20 lucky children learnt how to make their very own rod puppets. Starting with a sketch concept drawing of how their puppet would like to creating imaginative and distinctive puppets with sponges, material, felt and sparkles.
To finish of the workshop and introduce the puppets to the centre each child was encouraged to put on an improvisational puppet show to introduce their creations and the personalities behind their puppet masters.

Thank you to the inspiring Sue Wallace and Steve Coupe - the talented puppeteers behind SPT who made this day so special for local children.
The performance and workshop was sponsored by Leichhardt Council through its CDSE program.
